AS the 2022-23 season nears its conclusion, it is time for Adver Sport readers to pick your Swindon Advertiser Swindon Town Player of the Season.

The Robins’ campaign has been a turbulent one with results peaking and dipping on a consistently inconsistent basis due to a variety of reasons.

But Adver Sport has picked out five names who have each enjoyed successful seasons in their own right.

Who will you choose to follow in the footsteps of Town legends such as Don Rogers, Shaun Taylor, and Sam Parkin?

Here are the five current Swindon players for you to choose from.

SOL BRYNN – 13 clean sheets

The Middlesbrough loanee has featured in every single League Two game this season as well as two EFL Trophy matches and the FA Cup first-round tie with Stockport County. Although the latter did not pan out as hoped, most of the other 40-odd saw the young stopper show exactly why so many people are raving about his future.

Not often seen diving around the goal, Brynn’s positioning is a key aspect to a rounded game and one of the main reasons the 22-year-old has kept 13 clean sheets this season. Following a rocky start and criticised by a small section of the fan base, Brynn showed his mettle by enjoying a fine campaign.

REMEAO HUTTON – 12 assists

Quietly tipped to do well by those who had seen him play before at Stevenage and Barrow, hardly anyone would have predicted Hutton to produce quite what he has this term.

Up there with the best defenders in Europe regarding his assist numbers, Hutton’s ability to send inviting crosses onto the heads of his teammates on a consistent basis makes him quite the asset for his club. A relatively-experienced campaigner, at 24, Hutton’s overwhelming consistency made him a sure-fire pick for this season’s award.

FRAZER BLAKE-TRACY – Highest average rating

There’s consistency, and then there’s Frazer Blake-Tracy’s level of performance. Initially at the club on loan from Burton Albion, Blake-Tracy’s ability as a left-back first stood out with marauding runs and an innate ability to win aerial duels that has rarely been seen at the County Ground. Once he then moved across the back line slightly, his ability appeared to move to another level.

Quick, strong, good in the air – Blake-Tracy has been excellent at centre-back and seldom dipped below the standards any fan would expect. The 27-year-old has the highest average rating of anyone in the Town squad (whoscored.com) this season.

JONNY WILLIAMS – Top scorer (10)

Williams proved his quality by enjoying another brilliant season, causing him to be nominated on this shortlist for the second time in two years. Having played more games in one season than he ever had last term, the Welshman blew all personal statistics out of the water this time around.

See; most games in one season and most games for one club, most goals and first time he has ever hit double figures in one season, and most assists for one club. The tricky forward upped his goal-scoring output this year, though, and that puts him at the top of Town’s list and in this exclusive group of five.

JACOB WAKELING – Top goal involvements for U21 player in League Two

A sensational start for Wakeling won him one of the longest contract extensions in the club’s history. He netted the first of this season with a fine finish away at Carlisle, and since then has gone on to score seven more while adding five assists – all in his first full season in men’s professional football.

Those numbers make him the most productive young player in the division by some distance. His boundless energy and never-say-die attitude has made him a fan favourite, and also wins him a spot on the Player of the Season shortlist at just 21.
