SWINDON Town head coach Jody Morris suggested he was not particularly keen on fielding an experimental XI for the final two games of the season.
Town are likely to finish anywhere between ninth and 13th in League Two, with only an away fixture against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday and a home tie with Crawley Town on Monday, May 8 remaining.
But despite injuries to Tom Brewitt and Jonny Williams likely reducing the number of first-team players available to Morris at the weekend, the Town boss indicated he would still try to name as strong a side as possible at Gresty Road.
Morris said: “With two games to go, I want to keep continuing to build and trying to improve on where we’re at.
“People can talk about there only being two games to go so let’s have a look at stuff, but at the moment, it looks like Minno [Harrison Minturn] could be more than in the fray as it is with injuries and such.
“We’ll have to look at how we’re looking coming out of Stevenage and what it looks like going into Crewe on Saturday.
“We’re not sure on Jonny Williams. He’s had a bit of an ongoing groin problem that flares up a little bit.
“I think he felt that a little bit more than what he thought at the weekend, so I’m not sure on him yet.”
Harrison Minturn came on for Brewitt in midweek and, bar one nervous moment, enjoyed an encouraging rest of the night against a physical Stevenage forward line.
The 19-year-old Swindon-born defender revealed post-match that he has another year left on his contract, but Morris would not confirm whether he sees Minturn as a part of his plans moving forward.
Morris said: “There are discussions which need to be had, and we need to see what else happens to see what’s going on with him. But he’ll certainly be with us for pre-season.
“We need to look at not only what’s best for us as a group and as a squad, because there are going to be ins and outs, but also where Minturn is so young it’s important that he gets game time.
“Now, it could be here, but we have to wait and see because he’s certainly one where you want to make sure that you get the decision right.
“He’s got a chance, Minno, but we need to see where we’re at with him at the beginning of next season.”
