SWINDON Harriers’ sprinter Tye Leo-Stroud scorched to a personal best at the Brewer Games on Bank Holiday Monday.
Leo-Stroud, who is making a strong comeback after injury, clocked a legal time of 11.69secs to shave 0.03secs off his previous best set last month.
Also at the Brewer Games, an in-form Ella Spencer smashed her personal best by 24 seconds over 3000m with a sparkling time of 10mins 00.96secs.
Crucially, that was well inside the qualifying standard for the English Schools Championships, her second qualifier of a successful week having also won the 1500m in 4:39.87 at Exeter mid-week.
Elsewhere, on his multi-events debut, Harriers’ teenager Oakley Hogan made quite an impact at the Somerset Schools and County Championships in Yeovil.
Competing in the junior boys’ pentathlon, Hogan finished third with 1,744points - including three personal bests in the 80m hurdles (15.19secs), the shot (9.66m) and the high jump (1.56m). His other two events were the long jump (4.04m) and the 800m (2:38.13).
Competing in the inter girls’ heptathlon for the first time, Laila-Jae Belgrave finished 11th on 3483 points. She opened with 12.92secs for the 80m hurdles followed by a 1.42m high jump and then 9.10m in the shot.
For the 200m, she clocked an electronic PB of 27.19secs before a 4.79m long jump, a javelin PB throw of 23.06m, and an 800m time of 3:13.60.
Meanwhile, Fletcher Hart continued his fine start to the campaign with victory over 800m (2mins 00.00secs) at the Gloucestershire Championships.
Another champion was Ben McIntyre in the senior 400m hurdles (60.00secs) with a bronze in the 5000m (17:55.0), while there were fifth places for Ben Langfield in the U15s discus (17.71m) and Toby Wood in the U13s 800m (2:37.0).
Al Virgilio sped to a brilliant personal best of 53.49secs in the recent Oxon & Bucks Midweek Open at Oxford’s Horspath Stadium, carving two seconds off his previous outdoor best.
In the 400m, U13 athlete Finley Kuklinski ran a PB of 68.73secs while senior sprinter Teresa Iannetelli clocked a season’s best of 62.65secs.
Junior Jack Gunning won the senior men’s 1500m in a time of 4mins 25.05secs, and U13 boy Toby Wood ran a PB of 5:40.73.
Molly Lyne cleared a PB of 1.20m in the U15s high jump, and Ben Langfield (U15s) ran a season’s best of 28.32secs in the 200m.
