New Swindon Town manager Michael Flynn did not give too much away when asked about Charlie Austin's future at the club.
The 33-year-old made his return to the Robins in January on a short-term contract until the end of the season.
The striker scored nine times in 20 games, but with his contract expiring, doubts have been raised on whether the ex-Burnley player will play for the club next season under Flynn.
Speaking to the BBC, Flynn said: “There are going to be some decisions I need to make in order to be able to mould my own team but let us wait and see.
"Its early days yet, I think there is a nucleus of a good squad here.
“Would I want one or two more experienced players? Possibly. But it has got to fit in with the ethos of the club.
"I want players to come here who want to improve, help improve the younger lads and be positive role models not just at the football club but in the community.”
Austin scored in Town's final game of the season, helping them to a 2-1 victory over Crawley, with Flynn watching from the stands.
Town finished the League Two season in 10th position, 14 points outside the play offs.
Therefore it will be a vital summer for club if they want to get promoted next season.
You would think that Flynn would love to keep Austin as he mentioned a lack of experience within the squad, however it would have to work out financially if a deal is going to be put in place.
Back in March, Austin talked about his possible future at the club, saying: “I need to sit down and weigh up my options, that’s not saying yes, that’s not saying no.”
“Ultimately, my head is not swivelling to go somewhere else."
However, the Welsh boss has made his message to the players clear, saying: “If the players aren’t prepared to work hard and play for this football club then I will get rid of them.
“I want to give the supporters a team that win, lose or draw, they can see that they’re fighting for the shirt, I want to have good conversations with the players and we can build something together but just add a few as we go along.”
With Flynn already named as the boss before the final game, it gives him the whole summer to build the team he wants, whether that includes Charlie Austin or not is yet to be confirmed.
