Former Swindon Town star Jonny Williams has been linked with a shock move to Scottish side Hibernian ahead of next season.
The Welshman departed the EFL League Two club this week after being released at the end of his contract, expiring on July 1.
After moving to the County Ground in 2021, Williams made 84 appearances for the Robins, netting 15 goals.
In his first season the club made it to the play-offs but his second term in Wiltshire did not go as swimming with the Robins grinding to a tenth place finish following g a turbulent campaign.
Now the midfielder has been linked with a transfer to the Scottish Premier League as Hibernian have showed interest in bringing the former Welsh international into the fold.
This would mean a potential reunion with forward Harry McKirdy who left the County Ground last summer to join Hibs in a controversial move.
Hibernian manager Lee Johnson has been far from quiet on the possible acquisition of Williams.
“Jonny’s one that’s out of contract so would naturally come into a club our size’s consideration but at the same time there are so many factors,” he said.
“Every player that’s out of contract, including our own, go into that pot of potential availability, and then the player’s got to be affordable, accessible and available.”
