THE Bespoke Guardians Swindon Wildcats have announced netminder Tyler Perre has re-signed for the club ahead of the 2023-24 NIHL National Division season.
Perre spent the past two seasons with Bristol Pitbulls but has moved back to his hometown club to compete with number one Renny Marr for the starting shift with the Wildcats.
News of Perre’s re-signing comes a day after it was announced that experienced netminder Dean Skinns would not be returning next season.
The 22-year-old – who made his Swindon debut in 2018 – was part of the team which won the 2018-19 NIHL South One league title.
Perre also won a silver medal with Team GB in the 19-20 season at the Under 20 World Championships, where he played three times, posting a 2.07 GAA and a .912 save percentage.
Speaking to the Wildcats’ media team after the news was announced, head coach Aaron Nell said: “Bringing Tyler back is another good move for the club.
“He’s a Swindon boy who will come in and compete very hard throughout the course of the season.
“Renny and Tyler both know each other well and they will push each other every training session for the starting job.
“Tyler’s game has grown over the last couple of years and hopefully he’ll continue to make that step again this year.
“He was always a popular guy in our locker-room and I’m sure he’ll fit in just as well when the season comes around.”
