SWINDON Town have been drawn against Arsenal Under-21s in Southern Group G of the EFL Trophy.
Town were already confirmed alongside League One clubs, Reading and Exeter City in the development competition before the invited academy teams were drawn live on Sky Sports News as part of the EFL's fixture release day on Thursday.
The young Gunners were in Town's group during the 2021-22 campaign, and Swindon claimed a 2-1 success after a strike from Mo Dabre and an own goal from Arsenal’s Kido Taylor-Hart cancelled out Joel Ideho’s first-half effort.
Ben Garner's men went on to enjoy an extraordinary campaign which featured a third-round FA Cup fixture at home to Manchester City and a play-off run which ended with a penalty shoot-out loss to Port Vale.
Swindon reached the knock-out stages in 21-22 before exiting the competition at home to Colchester United - who they play on the opening day of the 2023-24 League Two campaign.
Town's first EFL Trophy fixture will take place on Tuesday, September 5 against Arsenal U21s before Swindon play Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium on Tuesday, October 10 in the pair's first competitive meeting in over 20 years.
Finally, Exeter will travel to Wiltshire for the final group game on Tuesday, November 21.
The knock-out stages begin in early December, and the final is set for Sunday, April 7, 2024.
