BRADFORD City have signed former Swindon Town loanee Tyler Smith on a three-year contract.
Smith featured for the Robins under John Sheridan in the Covid-affected 2020/21 campaign, scoring seven goals and laying on one other.
Despite only being watched by fans in person once, the Sheffield-born striker won supporters over with his insatiable work rate and his ever-optimistic personality.
Having started his career at Sheffield United, the 24-year-old enjoyed a highly fruitful campaign in the National League with Barrow - netting 10 times and providing two assists - during the 2018/19 season.
He then enjoyed loan spells with Doncaster Rovers, Bristol Rovers, Rochdale, and Swindon before signing for Hull City permanently in 2021.
Almost 40 matches and five goals for the Tigers later, Smith briefly went on loan to Oxford United but failed to score in seven appearances - mainly from the bench.
Having reportedly rejected multiple offers elsewhere in the EFL, Smith penned a deal until 2026 with Mark Hughes' men.
Speaking to Bradford's media team, Smith said: “I am delighted to get the deal done. I just cannot wait to start.
“There has been work behind the scenes for a while now, but it is nice to get it done early on, so I can get to work.
“I am an energetic and hard-working striker, who likes to make runs in behind, and play off the shoulder.
“I have got experience in the Championship, and I can bring that here, where hopefully I can contribute to goals.
“This is a massive club, the biggest in the division, and I am looking forward to hopefully helping the boys go one better this season and get promoted.”
Bantams boss Hughes said: “Tyler is a player we have held an interest in for a long period of time, so we are delighted to be able to welcome him to the club.
“He is a pacy striker with the ability to run in behind and stretch defences, as well as obviously possessing a clear goal threat.
“He has experience of playing at a high level, having spent the past two years in the Championship with Hull City, and will bring something a little different to our forward line.
“We are looking forward to having Tyler with us as we begin pre-season training this week, and I am sure you will join me in wishing him a warm welcome.”
