WILTSHIRE County Cricket Club were knocked out of the NCCA 50 over Trophy Semi-Finals on Sunday, as they lost by six wickets to Berkshire County Cricket Club.
Defending Champions Berkshire won the toss and asked Wiltshire to bat at the South Wilts Cricket Club, a wise decision considering the pitch had been under covers for most of the week building up to the fixture.
The decision paid off as the hosts lost early wickets and fell to 41 for 3 after 12 overs with only Man of the Match Jake Goodwin (72) staying firmly in the crease.
The visitors continued to take wickets at regular intervals with Tom Nugent (3-39), Rhodri Lewis (3-34) and Euan Woods (2-37) dealing the majority of the blows.
Only Josh Kelly (22) and Chris Aubrey (34) were able to make any significant contribution as Wiltshire were all out for 208 on the last ball of the 50 overs.
Berkshire’s batting got off to an aggressive start and were well in control at 87-2 with just 15 overs played.
Woods then scored 47 and Jack Davies (62 not out) and Dan Lincoln (46 not out) secured the victory by six wickets with a score of 208 for 4, taking Berkshire into the final.
