SWINDON Town are in talks with former Dundee United defender Ryan Edwards, according to a patreon article by journalist, Alan Nixon.

The 29-year-old centre-back is a free agent having been released by the the Tannadice club earlier this month and is thought to be weighing up several options ahead of his next move.

One of those clubs could be Swindon, although Football Insider has reported that a handful of Championship and League One clubs are interested in taking the centre-back on ahead of the new campaign.

Following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Eastleigh, Town manager Michael Flynn revealed head of football, Jamie Russell was speaking to a player, although he did not share a name or confirm in which position said player operates.

Meanwhile, Nixon has stated that Town face competition from League One Burton Albion and Australian club, Newcastle Jets - although they could pose less of a threat due to the defender preferring a switch to an English side.
