SWINDON Town have signed defender, Benn Ward on a season-long loan from Premier League side, Burnley.

A successful move for Ward caps off a hectic week for the Robins in which four new players joined - Jake Young, Udoka Godwin-Malife, and Tariq Uwakwe preceded the teenager's arrival.

Ward becomes Town's seventh signing of the season, joining Murphy Mahoney, Dan Kemp, and Liam Kinsella as the latest member of Michael Flynn's group.

Ward, Mahoney, Kemp, and Young are all loan arrivals - leaving manager the Swindon manager with just one available spot left in his match-day squad.

The defender started his career at Brighton and Hove Albion, before joining Hastings United in order to secure men's football at just 16-years-old.

The 19-year-old would go onto move to Burnley in January 2021, and signed his first professional contract with the Clarets the following year.

Although now regarded as a centre-back, Ward can play left-back and in midfield, which adds to his versatility.

Ward has made 26 appearances for Burnley's Under-18s and U23s, notching one assist and just three yellow cards.

The teenager will wear number three while at Swindon this season.

Swindon travel to Colchester United on the opening day of the League Two campaign - Saturday, 3pm kick-off.
