With the 2022 Summer transfer edging closer to its end, its crunch time for many clubs to get their deals done and like Swindon Town, many other league two clubs have been busy getting pens to paper within the last week.

Colchester United completed a season-long-loan deal for Luton Town forward Joe Taylor on last Saturday who will look to add an attacking threat to Ben Garner’s squad.

Taylor featured in Luton’s dream day at Wembley as they secured promotion to the Premier League and made a name for himself despite only being on the field for 15 minutes.

The 20-year-old scored for the Hatters, thinking he had won the game, only for it to then be disallowed via handball moments later.

However, he kept his nerve in the penalty shootout, slotting away his penalty so his addition to the league is most definitely one to watch.

Forest Green Rovers have also had a busy past couple of days, adding to new faces to their squad.

The first being talented midfielder Jacob Maddox who signed on an undisclosed fee from Walsall Town on Monday.

Having previous spells at Cheltenham Town, Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes and Burton Albion, the 24-year-old joined the Saddlers at the start of last season and featured 32 times for the side, whilst netting two goals for himself. Forest Green added to their midfield options again on Wednesday with youngster Alfie Bendle who arrives to the Green Devils on a free transfer from AFC Wimbledon.

The 18-year-old made 17 first team appearances last season for the Dons, who also have a sell-on clause as part of the deal.

The biggest name to join the league in the last week is Republic of Ireland midfielder James McClean who joined AFC Wrexham last Friday.

McClean joins the Welsh club on a one-year deal with an option to extend at the end of the spell, from Wigan Athletic.

The 34-year-old recently earned his 100th international cap this summer and will bring class and experience to the league, having had spells in the top-flight with both West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland United.

Phil Parkinson’s new Londonderry-born wide man joins a squad of footballing veterans, with the likes of goalkeeper Ben Foster and forwards Ollie Palmer and former Town forward Paul Mullin, who is still recovering from a ruptured lung.
