A NEW date has been confirmed for Swindon Town's postponed clash with Colchester United in League Two.
Michael Flynn's men were supposed to begin the new season in north Essex at the start of August, only for several bands of heavy rain throughout the day leading to the postponement of that fixture less than half an hour before the scheduled start time.
After discussion between both clubs and the EFL, the rearranged game will now take place on Tuesday, November 7 with a 7:45pm kick-off.
Swindon's FA Cup campaign will begin on Saturday, November 4, with the Robins hoping to erase memories of last season's 4-0 drubbing away to Stockport County by booking a spot in round two.
Anyone who purchased a ticket for the original match will see it remain valid, but if Town fans are not able or willing to attend the alternate date, they should contact Colchester's ticket office up to a fortnight before November 7 to claim a refund.
Swindon eventually began their 2023/24 campaign with a League Cup penalty shoot-out defeat to League One Peterborough United a few days after the Colchester game was called off.
The Robins' first League Two match belatedly arrived the following weekend, but Town threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Crewe Alexandra at the County Ground.
A thrilling 2-1 success away to Forest Green Rovers gave Flynn his first three points as Town boss on August 15, prior to an extraordinary 5-5 draw with Wrexham last weekend.
After another penalty shoot-out loss - this time to Arsenal Under-21s in the EFL Trophy - on Tuesday, Swindon finish off their August fixtures with a home clash against Scott Lindsey's Crawley Town on Saturday.
Swindon's next away game arrives on Saturday, September 2 when they take on Doncaster Rovers.
