Swindon Town have completed the signing of Zachary Elbouzedi from AIK on a season-long loan deal, subject to EFL approval.

Elbouzedi becomes Swindon's sixth signing of the window, following Dawson Devoy, Jack Bycroft, Paul Glatzel, Pharrell Johnson, and Conor McCarthy.

The Dublin-born winger came through the academy at West Bromwich Albion but never made it through to the first team, before making the move north of the border to Inverness Caledonian Thistle, for whom he made four appearances in the Scottish Championship.

During his time with Inverness, Elbouzedi signed on a one-month emergency loan at Elgin City in Scottish League Two, where he would make three appearances.

A spell back in Ireland at Waterford was to follow, scoring six goals from midfield during the 2019 season as the Blues finished sixth.

His performances in the League of Ireland Premier Division earned him a move to Lincoln City in December 2019, where he would spend two seasons in League One.

Whilst playing with the Imps, the 25-year-old also spent time on loan at Bolton Wanderers in League Two, where he would be part of the squad that earned promotion to the third tier alongside former Swindon players Eoin Doyle and Lloyd Isgrove, before moving to Sweden to sign for AIK in 2021.

He has spent the last three seasons plying his trade in the Allsvenskan, where he made over 20 appearances in both of his first two seasons but struggled for game time during the 2023 season and has now made the move to the County Ground.

Elbouzedi has represented the Republic of Ireland at every youth level between under-15s and under-21s but has not earned a senior cap.

The 25-year-old played 13 times for the under-21s, scoring three goals and playing alongside the likes of Gavin Bazunu, Nathan Collins, and Caoimhin Kelleher. He also played against such players as Sandro Tonali, Alessandro Bastoni, and Viktor Gyokeres in those appearances.

He will add competition in the forward areas, being predominantly a right winger but with the versatility to play across the front line. Town currently only have Charlie Austin, Paul Glatzel, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, and Tyrese Shade who can play in the forward areas.

The winger is also the third player to have joined Town on loan this window, EFL clubs are able to use five loan players within a matchday squad, so Swindon can still bring in another two players on loan before Thursday's deadline.
