197 runners braved the blustery winds to take on the Highworth 5-mile running race on Sunday.
The 37th edition of this annual event organised by Highworth Running Club was supported by runners from the town and also several local clubs.
Runners set off from Highworth Warneford School along the lanes towards Fresden before returning up Eastrop Hill and back to finish on the school playing fields.
The leading two men pulled out a gap over the rest of the field and produced an exciting head-to-head contest, with Oliver Sherratt from Abingdon AC drawing ahead to finish in an excellent time of 28:00.
Felix Wernham held on to second place finishing 19 seconds behind with Matthew Allen from City of Norwich Athletic Club completing the men's podium.
Stephanie Lane finished as first lady in a time of 31:55, with a 46-second lead over Emma Hines from Swindon Harriers in second place. Jessica Stueber from the home club took third place on the ladies' podium. Emma also took the trophy for first lady veteran home.
An excellent showing from the Wootton Bassett Hounds running club saw three of their members in the top ten finishers, winning the club trophy for the Hounds.
