Swindon Town remain hopeful that they will get four players back from injury before the end of the season.
It has been a difficult season for Town in many respects, but injuries have played a big part as 14 senior players have missed significant time at some point over the course of the season.
Saidou Khan, Pharrell Johnson, Tom Clayton, and Harrison Minturn have all been confirmed as being out for the season, with Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Reece Devine, Tariq Uwakwe, and Dawson Devoy all also sidelined at the moment.
Gavin Gunning said that none of those players will be back in time to take on AFC Wimbledon this weekend, but he still feels that they could be back in time to feature again this season.
He said: “I don’t think [anyone will be back], we will have to see but it will probably be much of the same for the weekend.
“Rush [Hepburn-Murphy] might be back before the end of the season, Dawson has only been out for a week or so, so he will be back.
“Tariq is back training now, but Reece Devine I am not sure [whether he will be back before the end of the season]. Tariq could possibly feature.”
Given the difficulties that Swindon have had with injuries this season, exacerbated by what was a small squad for much of the campaign, The Adver asked Gunning whether any changes would need to be made before next season to try and limit the time lost by players.
He said: “Sads [Saidou Khan] has pretty much been injured the whole time I have been here, he has been fit for like two games. He has just been carrying that, so that is just something that has come on.
“A lot of the others have just been injuries and then they try and come back and it is another injury, they get injured with one thing and then it is another thing, it is not relatable.
“If it is the same thing that is happening all the time then there could be something there, but it has been different things.
“When you are injured, you have to live so clean in your life and that is where you have to get to.
“I have been there myself when you are injured and you just want to get back fit, but sometimes you have to take that extra week and be patient.”
