Speculation is rife over the possibility of Derek Adams becoming the next Swindon Town manager after he was spotted at the County Ground.

Eagle-eyed supporters noticed that the 48-year-old was in the director’s box during Swindon’s 3-2 victory over AFC Wimbledon in League Two.

Town have been without a permanent manager since Michael Flynn parted ways with the club in January following a disappointing run of results saw the club in 15th in the table.

Adams’ presence at the County Ground has left supporters wondering whether he was getting a first look at his new players ahead of potentially taking the position.

The ex-Morecambe boss has been without a job since he resigned from his post at Ross County in February, just three months after departing the Shrimps to join them.

Interim head coach Gavin Gunning, who admitted his own future remained unclear, was asked about Adams’ presence in the stands, but said he did not believe it was a sign of what was to come.

He said: “I imagine he was just coming to watch the game, he was at Ross County last I heard for a couple of games, I don’t know what happened there.

“I wouldn’t imagine there is anything there.”
