With Swindon Town’s season at an end, we turn our attention to what will happen to the players, so here is what we know so far.
The retained list is expected to be announced early this week, announcing what Town will do with the current squad.
At present, 16 players are known to be out of contract: Jack Bycroft, Conor Brann, Tom Clayton, Reece Devine, Frazer Blake-Tracy, Tom Brewitt, Pharrell Johnson, Williams Kokolo, Saidou Khan, George McEachran, Tomi Adeloye, Tyrese Shade, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, Charlie Austin, Paul Glatzel and Sean McGurk.
However, January arrivals Bycroft, Johnson, and Glatzel all have optional extensions for an additional year, according to the club.
In addition to these, there was no official announcement of the contract length of Udoka Godwin-Malife, Brooklyn Genesini, Tariq Uwakwe, and Nnamdi Ofoborh.
Of these players, Blake-Tracy has already announced his departure on social media in an emotional message thanking the fans for their support during his two years with the club.
As for everyone else, the picture is less clear. Following the Morecambe game, Gavin Gunning would not elaborate on whether the options were being taken up, simply responding, “Possibly.”
Bycroft added to BBC Radio Wiltshire: “[Will the option be taken?] Fingers crossed. I hope that is the case. We have to sit down with a few people and sort our situations, but fingers crossed.”
Austin and Kokolo both said they were unsure about what would happen to them when speaking to BBC Radio Wiltshire on the pitch in the final game of the season.
The club captain said: “All that kind of stuff is way over my head now, I just want to enjoy this now because I don’t know if I will be back or not.”
Kokolo had previously said he had not begun discussions on his contract after the win over Barrow and said after Morecambe: “It was good [playing for Swindon], I love it. I hope that I am going to stay next season, so we will see in two weeks.”
Speaking all the way back in February, Hepburn-Murphy also expressed how much he has enjoyed playing for Swindon with contract negotiations yet to begin.
He said: “I am not too sure, to be honest with you [where my future lies], I haven’t had talks with anyone as of yet.
“I am enjoying my football here and I am playing a lot more now and today showed how much I am actually enjoying my football here.”
