A man who is joining Amazon in Swindon is set to take part in this years UK’s Strongest Man.
At prime condition, Luke Sperduti, a 27-year-old Welshman, is excited to compete for the much-coveted title.
Known in Amazon as the firm's strongest employee, Mr Sperduti has been wished good luck by his colleagues.
The power-lifting enthusiast started his journey at Amazon in 2020, and then progressed to the role of operations supervisor a year later.
Mr Sperduti's fitness regime started during his time in the Corps of Royal Engineers for almost five years, which sparked a passion that led him to leave the army to fully dedicate himself to powerlifting.
Keeping a regimented diet is key for him, consuming a daily feast of cereal, eggs, steak, pasta, and his love - Greggs.
However, a knee injury last year led to a shift in his diet, capturing this change, Mr Sperduti said: "I’ve started eating A LOT of porridge.
"Every morning I’ll start with a big bowl to get the day going and keep me fuelled before I go to the gym in the morning.
"Then I’ll come home and eat a pack or two of tortellini pasta with a 1000-calorie protein shake.
“I prep about a kilo of steak or a kilo of chicken to eat over the days I’m in work.
"I’m eating 4-5 meals a day now which is about 6000 calories, and it’s going well. My weight is up and I’m feeling healthy!”
Mr Sperduti was ranked third in Wales’ Strongest Man and Woman last year and second in 2022.
He has said: "It’s getting to the point now where every athlete is phenomenal.
"Out of the 12 competitors, six to eight have done professional shows.
"It’s getting big now and I just want to focus and get into those professional shows myself."
Amazon’s delivery station manager in Bristol, Salim Salim, said: "Everyone here, and at Amazon all over the world, is wishing him Good Luck for this week’s event."
Looking further down the line, Mr Sperduti aims to compete on a larger scale.
"I’d eventually like to get to compete at the World’s Strongest Man," he shares.
He added: "I’m not in a rush.
"I’m 28 this year, and I want to keep doing this well into my thirties.
"I have a long time to train and get to the top level."
