Swindon Wildcats have announced that they have been successful in their application to launch a second team for the 2024/25 season.
It was announced that the club’s application for a place in the NIHL Division One South had been accepted, allowing the new team Swindon Wildcats 2 to be able to play in the league.
The Bespoke Guardian Swindon Wildcats, the National League, and the Swindon Wildcats Ice Hockey Academy have put together a long-term plan to run the team sustainably for the benefit of ice hockey in the area.
In a statement, the Wildcats said about the new team: “Lots of work has been going on behind the scenes and we are pleased we can now announce our roster and sponsorship packages.
“We believe the roster is an exciting mix of experienced players and talented young players who have either graduated from the academy in 2024 or are part of the under-18 Cougars – 14 of the squad were part of the group that made up the National Championship-winning Swindon under-18 team in May.”
The full roster for the new team has been announced on the club website which will be competing in the second tier of English ice hockey next season.
