Mark Kennedy said that he would like Swindon Town to improve their ruthless edge following their 3-1 victory over Melksham Town in pre-season.
Harry Smith fired home twice during the first half before Paul Glatzel eventually added the third with the last kick of the match as Town won their third match of pre-season at The Oakfield Stadium.
Town netted three times, although passed up multiple presentable opportunities to make the score line more handsome against their Southern League Division One South opposition.
Despite taking their pre-season tally up to ten goals in four matches against Melksham, Kennedy said that he was left hoping that Town could improve their play in the final third moving forward.
He said: “If I was being really critical and looking for something that I could critique, not just for strikers but for everyone, we are playing a Step Four team and you should win and probably by a bigger score line, the criticism would be that we weren’t clinical enough in the final third.
“That is not directed at anyone, that is us as a team, Ollie [Clarke] our captain is an outstanding player and has been brilliant for us, he has a header saved from five yards when he has got to score.
“The most important thing that I am taking away, and even in the second game that I unfortunately missed at Hungerford [Town], we are creating lots of chances.
“It is when you are not creating lots of chances and you need to be clinical from one or two that can leave you in a bit of trouble.”
Kennedy was, however, pleased with the overall display from his side and felt that he was seeing much of the training ground concepts put into practice.
He said: “The result I don’t really care about because it is not about that at the moment, but you would rather be winning games than losing games.
“There were lots of good things and there was lots of training ground work that came out tonight which was really evident to myself and Marcus [Bignot].
“There were lots of good things that came out tonight but the most important thing at this stage of pre-season is that the players get minutes into their legs and we don’t get any injuries, I haven’t spoken to the physio as of yet, but I think that it was a really positive night.”
