Mark Kennedy gave an update on the injured players who have been missing Swindon Town’s pre-season games.
Swindon have played four matches so far as they build up to the start of the League Two season against Chesterfield next month with most of the squad getting up to speed.
However, some players have been unable to get involved so far, with Ryan Delaney, Tariq Uwakwe, and Grant Hall yet to feature, and Sean McGurk has been absent since Swindon Supermarine.
Kennedy gave an update as to why those players were yet to take the field in pre-season.
He said: “Grant is training and he is fit and he looks good, but the game has just come a bit too soon for him.
"There is a certain period of minutes we need players to get in their legs before they can step on the pitch and this game was probably just a few days too early for him.
“Ryan is a little bit away so far but coming along well, he was a big signing for us, really important.
“He will have a huge part to play and I am frustrated for him more than myself and naturally frustrated for the fans that they can’t see him tonight because his rehabilitation has been good and he is doing well.
“I think he [McGurk] has a hip flexor, I don’t really get involved in injuries, I just want to know who is fit and who is not fit, I don’t get into the finer details.
“He came out and warmed up yesterday, he is in a good space and looked good, we just felt the game was 24 hours too early.
“I am not saying he will be involved on Friday because I haven’t spoken to anybody yet, but I don’t think it is anything serious.
“I think that it is unfair to talk about certain players, I have spoken to Tariq and he is a lovely kid, he is ill today and that is why he is not here.
“The most important thing is that he gets himself fit and healthy again, but the ins are easy to talk about because they are in and in terms of what we may do with other players, it is far too early, we haven’t made decisions on anybody yet.
“[Did he miss the other three games due to illness?] Yes.
“[Is that the whole reason he has been out and not training?] Pretty much.”
