Mark Kennedy says that he has been impressed with the coups the Swindon Town recruitment team has managed to pull off so far this summer.
In a busy summer at The County Ground, eight players have arrived in permanent deals as Jamie Russell looks to reshape the squad for his new head coach.
Kennedy remarked upon his admiration for the work that the recruitment staff had done so far this summer as they had managed to beat off hot competition in convincing many of the new recruits to join the club.
He said: “Good players are good players and Dylan [Mitchell] is obviously a player for the future, although a very good midfielder, technical, good size, robust, and tough as well.
“Obviously, he has had a great academy background and had a great loan last year and I think that the recruitment team deserve a lot of credit for getting him because I know a lot of people were chasing him, clubs higher up the pyramid than us.
“In Grant [Hall], we set our stall out to get a really experienced, central centre-half and he was top of that list.
“Again, the club deserve a lot of credit for getting a player like that because he easily could have played higher if he wanted to but I think the club and the coaching staff deserve a lot of credit for convincing him to come here.”
As Swindon continue to look to add to the players who have already arrived, they have been looking at various trialists with a serious view to a permanent deal, with Max Boruc, Max Harris, and Jai Rowe among those who have been training and playing with the side.
Whilst Kennedy was not prepared to go into detail about the club’s thoughts on those players, he said he has been impressed with those who have been with the group.
He said: “I think that everybody who we have had in so far has acquitted themselves really well and we have been really happy with them and I am sure they have been really happy with us. I think we have been good for each other.
“I am not a huge fan of trialists but we have had good players in and I thought Jai did really well, if good players are available then we will have a look at them, it is an opportunity to come in, train, and see if there is something to do.”
