Swindon Town have said that their season ticket sales have at a similar level to last season despite fears of a potential drop after a disappointing campaign.

At the end of last season, in which Swindon recorded their worst league finish since the introduction of the four-tier structure, TrustSTFC commissioned a survey of supporters which included more than 2,000 respondents contributing to a picture of where the fans stood on the club.

The survey results showed that 36 per cent of respondents said that they would either not renew for the 2024/25 season or were considering not renewing, leading to fears of a significant drop-off in sales that could have a damaging impact on the club’s funds over the summer.

TrustSTFC vice chair James Phipps said in May: “I think the reality is that there is going to be a shock on the season ticket renewals and that is going to create a huge challenge for the club.

“We are not talking about small sums of money, it is a very significant sum if a third of season ticket holders don’t renew.

“That typically at a lower league club is what gets them through the summer while there is no money coming in.”

Subsequently, the Advisory Board minutes for May showed that season ticket sales had fallen from the same stage the previous year, although the club did say that they expected them to catch up before the end of the Early Bird deadline, which was eventually pushed back until mid-June.

However, it has been revealed in the Advisory Board minutes for July that sales have caught up and are roughly in the same region as last season.

The minutes stated that just under 4,000 season tickets had been sold for the forthcoming 2024/25 season, and whilst this number is lower than the official figure for last season when taking into account complementary and sponsorship tickets which were included in that figure and are not for this year, the total is largely similar.

Also in the meeting, Anthony Hall revealed that maintenance had been done at the Nigel Eady County Ground, which has seen the toilets in the Don Rogers Stand and Town End redecorated ahead of the new season.

This is in addition to the refurbishment which is currently going on to the Legends Lounge, which is on track to be ready for the first home game against Walsall on August 17, although not for Saturday’s friendly against Wycombe Wanderers.
