Mark Kennedy said that the Swindon Town squad remains far from complete ahead of the start of the League Two season at Chesterfield.

Swindon have made 11 signings so far this transfer window, the latest of which Jeff King arrived this week to add further competition in the wing-back position and left the opening-day opposition at the end of last season.

Jamie Russell said on the pitch ahead of the final pre-season friendly against Wycombe Wanderers that he still expected to see two or three more players arrive before September.

Kennedy said that he, like all managers across the country, do not see his squad as being the finished article just yet and more additions are to come.

He said: “We need more bodies and we would like more bodies, executing that is a much more difficult process than it seems on paper, but we definitely need more bodies in.

“That is not a criticism or a negative coming from me, it is a fact, but I bet if you speak to Paul [Cook] at Chesterfield he would tell you the same.

“The first game hasn’t started, nobody in the whole pyramid of football will have completed their transfer window.

“If you go and speak to mister Guardiola at Man City, I will guarantee he says that he needs players and if you go and speak to Mark Kennedy at Swindon Town, it is the same for everybody.

“We are still so early in the window, but we definitely need a couple more bodies.”

Swindon have previously said that they were looking for a goalkeeper and striker to add to the squad and whilst Kennedy admitted nothing was imminent, that intention remains.

He said: “We have been really aggressive and proactive about what we are trying to bring in and we would still like a striker and a goalkeeper.

“What you want to do, what you can do, and what you can execute are completely different things, and I won’t bore you with the whys.

“We have basically done all that we can and sometimes you are reliant on other people. I wish it was today but I don't think we are going to have any news today.

“[Are you in a position where you have to get rid of players in order to bring more in?] That is not a question for me, I am afraid, you will need to speak to Jamie about that.”
