With the new League Two season looming large, many EFL experts have given their verdict about where Swindon Town will finish this season.

Various pundits on all things EFL have released their predictions for League Two and by extension given their thoughts on how Swindon will get on this season.

The Not The Top 20 podcast released their 1-24s ahead of the start of the season for all three divisions and they had Town to match last season’s lowest finish in the four-tier structure by coming 19th.

Co-host Ali Maxwell said of Swindon: “Somehow two things are true here, I think that the doom and the gloom has lifted somewhat and there is a positive freshness and a slight change of approach that I think is positive for the club to stop the slide that we have seen over the last few years.

“However, within the context of all of the other clubs that we are talking about, we couldn’t get them any higher than 19th.

“I think that the floor of the team is going to be higher, they will be sturdier than they were last season, but we are not sure exactly what the ceiling holds.”

Gab Sutton also wrote his annual EFL predictions for BetVictor and he had Town marginally higher, improving on last season by one place and finishing 18th.

Sutton wrote in his article: “Town fans can start to look forward to matters on the pitch under new head coach, Mark Kennedy, who did a solid job at Lincoln, helped by some decent additions.

“Swindon could make progress, after stooping to a lowest ever league finish in their history last year.

“Right now, however, there’s not enough evidence to suggest that progress will be more than minimal – and that’s if things don’t implode entirely…”

The Deck and their League Two podcast “Fourth Tier Fever” released their predictions for the season and were the most positive of the bunch, having Swindon hitting the lofty heights of 15th.

Host Jordan Richards said: “There are some decent acquisitions been made by them, I just think last season might be a little bit hard to shake off.

“They have brought Mark Kennedy in as their new gaffer, I am still unsure about him, especially with some of the stories I have heard from his time with Lincoln [City].

“I think they will be alright but I don’t see them as being in a position to fight [for promotion].”
