Mark Kennedy said that he saw plenty of positives in the way Swindon Town played despite exiting the cup 4-2 at Crawley Town.
Swindon engaged in a Carabao Cup classic at the Broadfield Stadium, trailing at the break courtesy of a Ade Adeyemo goal before everything went off after the break.
Jack Roles' screamer seemed to have everything wrapped up before Nnamdi Ofoborh and substitute Harry Smith got the game level.
Swindon looked the more likely to go on and win it before Roles fired home another fabulous goal and Rafiq Khaleel wrapped it up in the dying embers.
Kennedy said that he doesn't change his opinion of a game based on a two-minute stretch and he believed Swindon did enough to win the game.
He said: "I was really impressed with us tonight, I thought it was a very good performance and sometimes results don't reflect performances.
"I didn't see us going 2-0 down, I didn't see that coming and I thought the reaction was excellent, especially at 2-1 down having missed a penalty to then come back and got to 2-2.
"I thought in the last 20 minutes of the game that physically we dominated them in terms of our legs and endurance, we dominated the ball, created multiple chances.
"We leave with bitter disappointment that we haven't won the game that I thought we deserved to win but if we perform like that week in and week out then we can go far.
"Unfortunately we lost tonight and that is disappointing because we want to win every game, the scoreline really didn't reflect what happened but that is football.
"I see the game as a whole, so I don't get caught up in the last two minutes, if we go into penalties then it is a completely different conversation but the conversation I am having with you is the exact same as I would have had at 88 minutes.
"There is nothing to pick up as I thought we were outstanding tonight, the conversation if we won would have been rainbows and unicorns, so it shouldn't be any different from a two-minute spell."
Swindon conceded four goals with two coming right at the end and Kennedy was asked about what he thought let Town down in those moments.
He said: "You can argue that the last three were really good strikes, I would have to look back at them to know for sure.
"Three of the goals were from outside the box, so we might have to have a look at that and see what we can do better to prevent those opportunities.
"From a technical aspect I think Crawley were clinical when the chances came for them.
"The bottom line is that against Chesterfield we were playing against a team who in my opinion will be in the playoffs and tonight we played against a League One side.
"I thought we were better in possession, created more chances, but Crawley were clinical and we should have won the game."
