Jeff King said that he would like to be a player who excites the Swindon Town fans with his attacking play after joining this summer.

The wing-back arrived from Chesterfield a week before the start of the season and made his debut against his former club before getting an assist for Harry Smith’s goal at Crawley Town.

King was known for being able to do the outrageous during his time in the National League and he wants to demonstrate that again at Swindon.

He said: “That is my main attribute, scoring goals, getting assists, and creating opportunities for other players.

“That is what I have always been judged on and I like people to watch me and get excited by me and get the fans off their seats.

“I am really hoping that the fans get to see that part of me with those type of goals [long rangers] because when you go and watch football you want to see those types of screamers and wonderful assists, so I am hoping I can get a lot of them this season.

“When I was at Bolton [Wanderers] when I was a bit younger I played in centre midfield or I could play off both wings and then when I was at Halifax [Town] we played a back five and I got put at wing-back.

“That suited all of my attributes for what the team wanted and I have built on that and got better in the position, I am really looking forward to playing it here as I feel I can have a positive impact on the team.”

Despite arriving so late in the summer, King said that he has settled very quickly at Swindon, in part due to some familiar faces in the dressing room.

He said: “I knew about three or four of the lads before I came in and it just means you have to someone to sit with at breakfast at first and then they introduce you to all of the lads.

“When I have been going to the hotel, Sean McGurk is one of my good mates in Liverpool, so he has been coming around and we have been going on walks or going to Nandos together.

“It has been really good, all of the lads have really welcomed me and the club feels really homely and so I have found it really easy to bed in here.”
