Mark Kennedy said that Swindon Town’s crushing 4-0 defeat to Walsall will not change their work in the transfer market.

The transfer window slams shut next Friday ahead of Swindon’s home clash with Notts County and Town are still in the market for at least three new players to help bolster the squad that is still looking for its first win of the campaign.

Swindon are known to have been looking into loan deals for Kabongo Tshimanga, although they have as yet been unable to meet Peterborough United’s wage demands for the striker, and also Coventry City midfielder Ryan Howley.

Having made 12 additions so far this summer, Town have not made any moves in the transfer market since the season started two weeks ago, with the head coach having previously said that they had done the work on their end and continue to await approval on deals from other clubs to bring players in.

Despite a difficult home loss to Walsall at the weekend, Kennedy said that this would not change the haste with which they are working to bring players in.

He said: “Winning today wouldn’t have got us a player any quicker on Monday and losing doesn’t get us a player either.

“We have done everything we can and we are waiting for clubs to come back to us and say ‘Right, you can have that player now.’

“If I was to say ‘We have to get a player now’ then that would be an emotional reaction to your question.

“The process doesn’t change, our process is finished in terms of what we need to do.

“If we go to sign a midfielder, we haven’t rung one club, we are ready to go with three midfielders, so if a club says 'No' then we can move on to Club B.

“It is not because we win or lose a game of football, the process is the process and it didn’t start with the start of the season, we had a meeting the other day about something we have been trying to do since April and that is long before I came to the club.

“You can’t react to a result but it might evidence where you might be light or it might make you think instead of wanting someone like Henry [Port, Head of Media and Communications], we might want someone like you [Joe Acklam].

“Today’s result won’t make us veer away from what we are doing now.”
