Delleah Belgrave has talked of her pride at pulling on an England vest for the first time in her career.
The 19-year-old made her international debut in a Home Countries Junior International match at Epsom on Saturday finishing third in the long jump with 5.67m.
The Swindon Harriers long jumper learned of her opportunity to represent England for the first time earlier in August and travelled to the event hoping to make good on that.
Belgrave said: “It was amazing. The whole experience of meeting other athletes and the England coaches was fantastic and I had such a good time.”
Belgrave started athletics with the Swindon Harriers through the QuadKids programme competing as an under 11 in 2015. She has been a keen and loyal member since then working with coaches Tony Jackson and John Dill before switching to jumps specialist Paul Weston.
Belgrave added: “Paul and my parents came to Epsom to watch me and pulling on that England vets felt so good.
“It was my last competition of the season and I was so proud.”
Belgrave now begins a new phase of her life starting a degree course in Accountancy and Business Management at Brunel University next month. Everyone at the club wishes her well for the future.
