Swindon Town are facing competition from Scottish Championship outfit Partick Thistle for the signing of Peterborough United striker Kabongo Tshimanga.

According to a report from Scott Burns in the Daily Record, the Glasgow club are keen on Tshimanga and have asked about his availability.

Swindon have also been pursuing a move for the striker, with Mark Kennedy having admitted their interest in bringing the three-time National League Team of the Season striker to the Nigel Eady County Ground.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has said on his podcast ‘The Hard Truth’ that Posh have had offers from two National League sides and a League Two club, presumed to be Swindon, for the striker but Tshimanga preferred to stay within the EFL.

Town have as yet been unable to agree a deal with Peterborough as they have been unwilling to cover the proportion of wages that the League One club are asking for to allow him to go out on loan.

However, MacAnthony said on his podcast that he had received an offer from Scotland for the striker that also did not meet their valuation.

He said: “Kaby didn’t want to go to Non-League, he feels he has done his time there and turned down two terrific clubs.

“Nobody in League Two has come in with an offer, that might change, we got an offer from Scotland yesterday but it wasn’t a good enough offer.

“The Kaby thing just hasn’t come off and that is fine, it is football, it doesn’t always work and now we are trying to do what is best for us and him.

“We have brought two to the table that will pay a fee for him and will pay his wages in full, he won’t lose a pound note.

“He and his agent wanted us to send him for a third of that for League Two and that is not going to work for us.

“If your agent is telling you to hold out and thinking we are going to fall over and let you go, that is just not going to happen.”

Kennedy said of Tshimanga: “He is just a player that we really like, but there are lots of strikers that we really like.

“There are many facets that cause you to get or not get players but I have openly said that we liked Tshimanga, we think he is a fabulous player and he is one of a number of people we are interested in.”
