Mark Kennedy said that he hopes that Swindon Town will be able to bring in a hat-trick of signings during the final week of the transfer window.

The deadline for clubs to bring in more players is at 11 pm on Friday evening and Swindon are working hard to add to the 12 players they have already brought in this summer.

Peterborough United striker Kabongo Tshimanga, as was first reported by The Adver on Saturday, is set to join Town on a season-long loan this week to add to the options in forward areas for Kennedy.

Swindon are also looking to bring in a goalkeeper and another midfielder this week, with AFC Bournemouth’s Gavin Kilkenny a player who is admired by the club, to bolster the squad before the deadline.

When asked about how much business he hoped would get done before Saturday, Kennedy said that he wanted three more players in the building.

He said: “I don’t know what I am allowed to say here but I would like three players to come in.

“[Do you feel that is realistic?] Yes and no. Yes, because we have been aggressive to put the pillars in place to do it.

“I can’t tell you the no, but I will next week. It is quite difficult to do and I apologise that I keep saying it but we have done all we can to make that happen.”

After a start to the season in which Town have taken two points and scored one goal from their opening three League Two matches, Kennedy added that it could be a key week for the team.

He said: “It is massive because players want to see new faces and we did a lot of work quite early, so sometimes it feels like you haven’t done anything but we have been really proactive quite early.

“We have had a lot of bodies go out and a lot of bodies come in.

“I think that new faces are great for multiple reasons, it is more talent coming through the door, that gets an extra ten per cent from everybody else and it ultimately helps our squad.

“At the minute we are looking at the bench and we are quite limited with what we can do, what I would love to do is go with two strikers and two tens and be really aggressive to go and win the game but at the moment we can’t do that.”
