With 48 hours remaining in the summer transfer window, Swindon Town have lots of work left to do, so here is the current state of play.

There is plenty that is still to happen in both directions for Town before the window slams shut at 11 pm on Friday, August 30 with Jamie Russell and co. continuing to work hard to get the squad in the best possible place.

For incomings, Mark Kennedy said on Saturday that he would like three new players to arrive before the end of the window and since that point, Kabongo Tshimanga has signed, although that deal was agreed before he said that and so there could be two or three still to arrive.

The targets remain in midfield and in goal, with Swindon known to be in for Gavin Kilkenny from AFC Bournemouth after his previous loan spells with Stoke City, Charlton Athletic, and Fleetwood Town.

Kennedy said of Kilkenny: “Gavin is a good player, I tried to sign him at my previous club and I have a fantastic relationship with his agent.

“I like Gavin and he is on my wishlist but there are multiple things that happen in between. In an ideal world, I would like to bring someone like that in.”

As for the goalkeeper, Marcus Bignot had said that a move was close before the start of the season, but nothing has materialised yet as Town look for someone to push Jack Bycroft and allow them to give Redman Evans senior experience via a loan move.

On the outgoings front, Saidou Khan has handed in a transfer request and Swindon would be happy to allow him to leave the club this month.

The midfielder has rejected potential exits this summer and it remains to be seen whether he will find the new club that he desires before the deadline, Kennedy has not yet indicated whether he would be happy to reintegrate him if nothing transpires.

Kennedy said: “Sads is pretty simple, we have spoken a few times to him recently as he has been ill, so he has had quite a fractured pre-season with illness.

“Sads has also indicated that he sees his future elsewhere and I think we have to respect that.”

Tariq Uwakwe is another player who could head out of the Nigel Eady County Ground, with Swindon reportedly willing to let him leave on a free transfer as they look to trim the squad of players they are unlikely to use.
