Swindon Town’s Saidou Khan has completed a move to Tranmere Rovers on a season-long loan deal after two seasons at the County Ground.

Khan is Town’s longest-serving senior player having joined the club in the summer of 2022 when he made the step up to the EFL for the first time and has gone on to make 70 appearances for the club and has also earned international recognition with The Gambia whilst in Wiltshire.

The midfielder has, however, made the move up to Birkenhead to join League Two rivals Tranmere on loan for the campaign after the option to extend his contract was exercised by Swindon following the end of last season.

The 28-year-old played under four managers in his two seasons at Swindon, having initially signed for Scott Lindsey before working under Jody Morris, Michael Flynn, and now Mark Kennedy.

Khan is the fourth senior player that Swindon have let go this summer after Udoka Godwin-Malife, Ricky Aguiar, and Williams Kokolo after 11 players were allowed to walk following the expiry of their contracts at the end of last season.

The Gambian international had handed in a transfer request at Town and the club decided it was the best pathway to acquiesce and enable this move.
