Tunmise Sobowale said that he is excited to see how Swindon Town push on after getting their first win of the campaign against Newport County.

The defender turned in a man-of-the-match performance at the back as Swindon blew Newport away to earn their first win of the season.

Sobowale said that after getting that monkey off their back, he is excited to see where they can go next as they look to build on the first win.

Speaking to club media, he said: “The changing room is honestly top, everyone is great with each other, there have been a few new faces over the last couple of weeks but everyone has gelled together very well.

“We are a good team and we will cause everybody trouble, it is just about getting everyone together and this team is very good off the pitch and on the pitch.

“We have a good thing going and hopefully we can cause a lot more problems in the table and push ourselves closer to where we want to be, which is closer to the top.

“I am very happy to contribute to the team but it isn’t about me, the team was unbelievable today, we knew what we had to do from minute one and getting that early goal gave us big momentum.

“I just feel like we have something good going here and I am excited to see where we go from here.

“I think that has started something and I do believe that we will climb the table and be one of the teams to watch.”

Sobowale added that he had felt that this kind of result would arrive having put in strong performances in recent weeks.

He said: “It was definitely coming, I sensed that from the Notts County game, I could sense the energy and everything was starting to click.

“As soon as we got that early goal I knew that today was going to be our day and we got three more after that and a clean sheet, so, happy days.

“I have been speaking to Kabs [Kabongo Tshimanga] since he has come in and he has come in with a good energy and told me that he wants to score loads of goals.

“As a wing-back, we have been talking about how we can create goals but Marcus [Bignot] said that when our strikers get in the box they come alive, and you could see that today.”
