The injuries to Swindon Town players Ollie Clarke, Ryan Delaney, and Grant Hall are not thought to be serious after they missed the Newport County match.

Swindon were without five first team players as they got off the mark with a 4-0 win over The Exiles last Saturday, with Harry Smith suspended and Rosaire Longelo out for a month after sustaining an impact injury at Crewe Alexandra in August.

Those absences were known going into the game but it was also revealed from the team sheet that Clarke, Delaney, and Hall were all missing from the game as well.

Clarke and Hall had both gone off injured during the first half at Barrow AFC the previous weekend but Mark Kennedy said they had both trained with a reduced load leading up to Newport, whereas Delaney’s was unknown leading into the game as he had played his first minutes after returning from a long-term knee injury against Exeter City and Barrow.

After the match, Kennedy was asked about their absences and said he was not unduly worried about the situation.

He said: “They were all injured but it was minimal. I am not sure what the week looks like but they are very short-term injuries.

“That was out of my hands but one man’s loss is another man’s gain and I thought the boys were excellent today.”

Delaney played more minutes than Town expected as he made his first League Two appearance for the club since signing this summer as a first-half substitute for Hall against Barrow.

Hall had struggled with injuries last season for Rotherham United, limited to just eight appearances in 2023/24, but had previously started every league game since re-joining Town before going off at the SO Legal Stadium.

Clarke had also been an ever-present since his summer move from Mansfield Town and becoming club captain but went off at Barrow having felt a tightness in his calf.

The trio will have work to do to regain their places in the starting line-up once they do return from their time out as Swindon turned in a great performance in victory.

Tunmise Sobowale put in a man-of-the-match display worthy of a place in EFL Team of the Week as part of the back three with Hall and Delaney unavailable for selection and Joel Cotterill and Danny Butterworth have both scored in the last two games as Swindon started to look more fluid in attack last time out.
