Former Swindon Town boss Scott Lindsey has left Crawley Town to take over as the new manager of Milton Keynes Dons.

Having won promotion with Crawley last season before having to rebuild much of the squad over the summer and The Red Devils have made a reasonable start to life in League One.

However, following the surprise departure of Mike Williamson to Carlisle United before playing Town last week, Lindsey has made the decision to drop back down to League Two at Stadium MK.

Having been the academy manager and then assistant manager under Ben Garner at Swindon, Lindsey got the top job following the playoff defeat to this weekend’s opponents Port Vale in 2022 and was in charge for six months with the club in the playoff mix before deciding to leave for Crawley in January.

Swindon and Lindsey will renew acquaintances on November 9 when Town travel to Stadium MK and he will make his Nigel Eady County Ground return on the final day of the season.

The current favourites to take over from Lindsey at The Broadfield Stadium include one of his coaches at Crawley and player under him at Swindon, Ben Gladwin, along with Gateshead manager Rob Elliot, and Brian Barry-Murphy.
