Swindon Town hugely disappointed their home crowd once again as they made it eight points from ten in League Two with a 0-0 draw with Harrogate Town.

Following a match with few moments to get an already cagey crowd excited, there were boos for Mark Kennedy’s team at full time as they have still won just once this season.

So, how did the players fare as individuals at the Nigel Eady County Ground?

GK: Dan Barden – 4

I still have absolutely no clue if he is a good goalkeeper or not. Harrogate’s limited ambition continued to make it difficult to judge him in that regard. His kicking left a fair amount to be desired, however. He didn’t have an awful lot to hit but there were some very wayward ones.

RCB: Tunmise Sobowale – 5

Harrogate offered very little in this match and the rapid legs of Sobowale tended to snuff out when they emerged from their shells. However, once again he struggled to get the ball going in a game when Town needed that injection of urgency.

CB: Will Wright – 4

I don’t know whether this is fair or not but I think that, as one of the key men in setting the tempo, when the tempo was far lower than it needed to be then I look at Wright as being at least partially responsible. There were not enough options for him but the passing was always too slow.

LCB: Miguel Freckleton – 3

Another game when it looked like the build-up of tough results was getting on top of Freckleton. He is visibly shrinking and needs to be given time to regroup.

RWB: Joel McGregor – 5

There seemed to be a concerted effort to play down the left rather than use McGregor as much as on Tuesday but he seemed to be popping up in some good areas. I think he did better defensively, actually, showing some dogged determination to not be beaten.

CM: Joel Cotterill – 6

Cotterill wins my man of the match purely for moxie. He wanted to make something happen more than anyone else, trying shots, making runs, and trying passes. He didn’t succeed but he tried more.

CDM: Gavin Kilkenny – 3

Much like Wright, when the team doesn’t tick like it should then you question the metronome and the man marking from Harrogate seemed to be enough to throw him more so than it did Wright.

CM: Danny Butterworth – 3

Anonymous. Butterworth has shown some of that desire in other games to take charge and make runs but we never saw that against Harrogate.

LWB: George Cox – 3

Please stop crossing. Or more, take more time over it as when he allows himself to get into the right position first then he provides quality but there are too many instances where he will cross from a non-sensical position where it is never going to create the right chance.

ST: Kabongo Tshimanga – 3

I genuinely don’t remember any contribution he made in the match. I believe it was implied afterwards that he had a knock, which might have influenced things, but if so then why not start Paul Glatzel?

ST: Aaron Drinan – 4

Plenty of endeavour but he is not scaring any centre-backs right now. He never made it difficult when the long balls came and wasn’t a handful when the ball was on the ground.

Substitutes:

Paul Glatzel – 4

There was huff and puff and a few moments when you see last season’s Paul Glatzel, but I just always come back to being baffled that he is being asked to constantly play on the shoulder. There is more there if Kennedy lets it come out.

Harrison Minturn – 5

He didn’t make any errors and there wasn’t anything wrong with his contribution, I just didn’t understand the logic of bringing him on in that situation.

Nnamdi Ofoborh – 5

The same goes for Ofoborh, really. It isn’t his fault as he brought what he offers, physicality and defensively solidity but that didn’t help at 0-0  when you can’t break anyone down.

Sean McGurk – 4

He did try and get involved and show some flair to drop a should and find space but none of it was coming off.
