Paul Glatzel feels in a better place to replicate his form from last season for Swindon Town and help to drive the team forward.

Having joined from Liverpool in January, Glatzel was a revelation in the second half of the 2023/24 season under interim head coach Gavin Gunning as he netted seven times in 19 appearances.

Glatzel said that after experiencing a few struggles that got in the way of his performances in the early parts of this season, he feels in a good place to add those goals back to his game.

He said: “It is definitely more difficult [being in and out of the team], I came in in January and played every game and that helps you get into a rhythm.

“I felt good with how I was playing and I knew that I was putting performances in week-in, week-out.

“It is a bit different when you are in and out of the team but you just need to focus on yourself and make sure that you are there for the team to support whoever is playing.

“We had a change of manager and change of style of play, certain things will suit different players, although I have always tried to perform to the best of my abilities and you could see that with my work rate, I am always trying to implement myself into the game.

“I am big on creating chances for other people and scoring goals and that is what I am always going to do.

“I have had a little niggle which kept me out but I am back now and I am looking to attack the season to get more goals and assists.”

Glatzel is also excited about the playing style which Ian Holloway has brought in which will place a greater emphasis on attacking play.

He said: “I felt good when I came on against MK [Dons], I had a few half chances and I got on the ball to try and link the play and carry the team up the pitch.

“The biggest thing for me [with Holloway] is that he wants the attackers to play with freedom, express themselves, and create chances.

“That is what I am about and I like to play like that; hopefully we will be able to play some attacking football and everyone will be brave enough to get on the ball and that can reflect in results.”
