For the majority of sides, League Two will come to a halt as the second round of the FA Cup gets underway over the weekend.

With the last gameweek of November coming to an end, what has happened in the fourth division?

Newport sign the son of Wilfried Bony

Newport County have signed Geoffroy Bony, the son of the former Swansea City and Manchester City striker.

The forward made his debut for the Exiles against Notts County after coming on as a substitute in the 81st minute.

Football runs in the Bony family as his brother Orphee plays for the U18s and did feature in the FA Youth Cup first round game against Swindon Town.

Newport boss Nelson Jardim joked and said: “Geoff just shows old I am getting!”

Three game ban for Walsall kitman and announcer

Dave Joyce and Simon Hill have both been struck with three-match bans by the Football Association after an incident in the 1-1 draw between Walsall and Crewe Alexandra.

The pair admitted to acting in an ‘improper manner’ and Joyce was fined £350, whilst Hill was given a £100 fine.

Crewe manager Lee Bell and Saddlers defender Liam Gordon were also punished, but with yellow cards as opposed to suspensions and fines.

Port Vale and Crewe host Monday night viewing

A top three clash was played in Stoke-on-Trent in front of the Sky Sports cameras as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw.

17-year-old Jack Shorrock put the Valiants in the lead with an extraordinary volley which left Filip Marschall with little chance.

With the game entering stoppage time, it would have to take something special to deny Vale all free points, and substitute Jack Lankester levelled the tie in the 92nd minute to secure an impressive point at the home of the league leaders.

Exiles’ team captain out for season

Aaron Wildig will be out for the remainder of the season after damaging his anterior cruciate ligaments in an awkward landing after a challenge with Kieran Green.

The 32-year-old is the team captain for Newport, which means he takes the responsibility of off pitch captain-like duties.

He came off with 63 minutes on the clock and scans after the tie revealed the unfortunate extent of the injury.

More points picked up at the bottom

Teams towards the bottom of the table picked up points once again as the relegation battle heats up.

Morecambe’s status at the worst team in the football league was brushed off as they rose to 23rd place after a 3-2 win against Swindon.

Carlisle United picked up an important point against Doncaster Rovers as they drew 0-0, but it does sink them to bottom.

Mike Williamson’s team have the chance to leapfrog both the Robins and the Shrimps if they are victorious in Saturday’s tie, where they host high-flying Crewe.

Other teams like Bromley and Colchester United can distance themselves away from the dreaded 23rd and 24th spots as the Greater London side have a game in hand and the Essex team have a good run of fixtures.
