Swindon Town have confirmed that Jamie Russell has left his role as Head of Football with immediate effect.
Russell had spent three seasons at the Nigel Eady County Ground, having first joined the club in March 2022 as the club's Senior Academy Director.
He leaves 17 games into the season with the side sitting 22nd in League Two, level on points with the bottom of the table.
Russell had worked alongside former manager Michael Flynn in managing the club's recruitment and also helped to progress Swindon's academy during his tenure.
But Swindon's on-field performances have not lived up to expectations since Russell was appointed as Head of Football in July 2023.
Russell will now return to work for League Two rival Salford City, having previously worked for the Ammies as an academy manager.
Clem Morfuni, Swindon Town owner and chairman said: "Jamie was pivotal in driving the growth of our Academy.
"Since his arrival, 18 players have made their debuts for the first team, two players moved to category one clubs and most recently, Ben Head has been selected to join England Under-15 for their upcoming training camp at St Georges Park.
"Since transitioning to become our Head of Football, Jamie has continued to show determination and passion for our club, in all teams and we are grateful for his contributions."
A spokesperson for the club said: "We would like to place on record our thanks to Jamie for his hard work and contribution during his time with us, and we wish him well in his future endeavours."
