Grant Hall said that Swindon Town cannot keep conceding from set pieces like they have been and have been hard at work to put that right.
Defeat at home against Morecambe was the third game in a row when Swindon conceded twice from set pieces, meaning they have let in 11 such goals this campaign, according to Opta.
Hall said that Swindon couldn’t allow that trend to persist and have been spending plenty of time figuring out how best to counteract it.
He said: “Last week was very disappointing, conceding from two set pieces again was very frustrating as it was something we had touched on the week before in training and it is something that we need to fix.
“We are working hard in training to try and eradicate conceding goals from set pieces but that was a very disappointing result considering where we both are in the table at the minute.
“We have just tried to work out what works best for the players that we have got available, whether that is man-marking or zonal.
“We have worked on different things in training and we are trying to find the best set-up for us.
“We can’t keep conceding from set pieces, we know that and it was a kick in the teeth for us to get back into the game and we looked the better side in the second half and then we conceded. We have just got to move onto the next game and hopefully start picking up some results.
Hall said that following a tough week of working to fix the team’s problems, it was time for them to step up and start getting the results.
He said: “We knew it was going to be a tough week and ideally we could have done with a game on Tuesday to try and right that wrong from Saturday.
“On Monday we went through some things about the game and where we can improve.
“As players, we need to take more responsibility on the pitch to change the results and quickly.
“This game is a good opportunity to get into the next round and hopefully draw a big team, it will be a tough game at Accrington but one that I think we can go and win.
“I watched the previous game and they are very well-organised and direct with a lot of energy but we did well to come back into it and could have gone on to win it.”
