SWINDON boss Danny Wilson was full of praise for his three substitutes after helping turn the game back in their favour at Walsall on Saturday.

Anthony McNamee and Callum Kennedy were introduced at half-time, with Lloyd Macklin arriving on the scene with just over 20 minutes remaining.

And the trio more than played their part in helping Town salvage a 1-1 draw from a game which, at one point, looked well beyond them.

“All three of the lads who came on did well and made an impact on the game,” said Wilson.

“The pace that we got in the second half caused them real problems, and we also started to deliver balls into areas that caused a bit of chaos.

“The midfield got on the ball a bit better, we passed the ball a bit better at times, but more importantly we put the ball in areas where we had chances of scoring, which was something we didn’t do in the first half.”

Wilson was not so complimentary about referee David Webb, however.

The County Durham-based official missed a stonewall penalty for a push on Lloyd Macklin, before awarding Swindon two spot kicks, and he infuriated both teams with some of his calls.

“The referee has had one of those days where I don’t think anyone knew what decision he was going to make,” admitted Wilson.

“Between him and his linesmen, nobody knew what was happening.

“At the end of the match, something happened and we hadn’t got a clue whether he was giving a penalty, or a free-kick outside the box, or whether he was going to send our lad off, or going to send their lad off.

“When you get a game so up and down like that, it could go any way - and he really didn’t seem to have a clue.”
