MICHAEL Pook is hardly an old pro but points to the kids' coming up behind him as a reason for optimism next year.
The 20-year-old midfielder has clocked up just short of 30 starts in all competitions this season and it has been a tough baptism into senior football.
He said: "On a personal level I couldn't have asked for a more difficult start, coming into a team that was struggling from the off.
"We were losing week in and week out.
"It'll be nice next year hopefully for us to win eight on the bounce and me be part of that and feel what it's like to be sat at the top of the division looking down on everyone else rather than trying to catch them all.
"On a personal level I've achieved quite a few goals, so in that sense I'm happy. Obviously you're not happy with being relegated."
A goalless draw with Huddersfield was hardly a thrilling end to the campaign but Pook is far from downbeat.
He said: "We knew last week that it was done (relegation) and this week was a chance to move on.
"Ben Wells got a good run out today and Lukas (Jutkiewicz) has had a great end to the season. Those are the positives we take out of it. Hopefully we'll be using players like that next year.
"It's probably been the first year where there's been a handful of the youth team players that have got every chance of getting a contract.
"Before it was one's and two's. This year it's five and sixes. It's a great chance for the club to bring a few young players through.
"Lukas has been top drawer in all the games he's played. since coming into the team."
As for the Terriers clash which wrapped up the campaign, Pook said: "It was one of those games. The systems cancelled each other out. They matched us and we matched them.
"Having said that we had a couple of good chances and possibly were the better team.
"It's slightly disappointing that we didn't manage to win but at least we finished on a fairly positive note and there's something to take into next year.
"I've got a couple of holidays booked, I'll enjoy them and hopefully come back nice and refreshed in July."
