MARK Devlin is to reprise his role as the club's chief executive with immediate effect.

The board have decided they want him to resume the day to day' running of the club, leaving Sandy Gray to concentrate purely on financial matters at the County Ground.

Devlin arrived at the club from Queens Park Rangers in the summer of 2002 as chief executive and held the post for two seasons before switching back to Loftus Road to take up a similar position.

Boardroom politics at the Championship side meant his stay was little more than a season and in the aftermath of Andy King's sacking, Devlin was back in Wiltshire as deputy chairman.

He took on responsibility for the club's media profile among other matters but his new role will see him assume control of all issues relevant to Swindon Town.

Gray will switch to be the financial director.

Devlin said: "Hopefully I can carry on Sandy's good work as we embark on what I feel is an exciting period for the club."

The change of title could also herald change in the boardroom at some stage in the future.

Devlin does not expect to retain his deputy chairman role and in the coming months it may be that there is a degree of further title-swapping.

He said: "I think the deputy chairman title will be reviewed."
