DENNIS Wise believes in Swindon Town and vice versa as the club plots a route back to the upper echelons of English football.

Town's new management duo will be unveiled at a County Ground press conference on Monday morning having each agreed three-year deals.

Wise was attending a charity golf day yesterday but his contract was forwarded to his representatives for final consideration with everything having been agreed.

The former Chelsea pair's arrival will attract considerable media interest but generating some national exposure was hardly the motivation for the double swoop.

Mark Devlin is adamant the respective captures of Wise and Gus Poyet, pictured left, is no short-term quick fix'.

The club's deputy chairman believes a three-to-five year route back to the Championship is a realistic goal.

He said: "Hopefully the deal shows the faith we have in Dennis and Gus to take the club forward and in turn it shows their commitment and relish for the challenges that lie ahead.

"I have stated on more than one occasion that I believe Swindon Town can be a top 30 club in this country.

"No-one is getting carried away here, there is an awful lot of work to be done but I see nothing wrong in looking ahead and trying to plot a course back to the Championship within three to five years."

Meanwhile, Devlin confirmed last night that striker Jamie Cureton's agent had sought to trigger the clause in the striker's contract which allows him to seek a free transfer in the event of relegation.
