IT is case of quality rather than quantity for former Swindon Town midfielder Alan McLoughlin as he bids to give something back to the game, writes ANDY CRYER.

McLoughlin, who made over 600 professional appearances including spells at Portsmouth and Aston Villa, is running his own soccer coaching course for potential stars of the future, aged 7-16.

He is midway through a five-week course, with a maximum of 16 on each course, and is aiming to give quality time' to each youngster.

He said: "I am not interested in having courses with masses of youngsters on. This is all about quality rather than quantity.

"There will be structured coaching over a five week period, and each session will last an hour and a half.

"I had a great career in football and this is my way of giving something back to the game."

Former Swindon player Andy Thompson, ex-Portsmouth man Matthew Robinson and Forest Green Rovers' Paul Stonehouse will be helping him out as he look to develop the youngsters' techniques.

His current five-week course is fully booked but anyone interested in future courses should contact McLoughlin on 07922 290144.
