Swindon Spitfires under 14 football team have celebrated success in two six-a-side tournaments. The first came at the Oakley tournament in Hampshire.

An opening victory over Winchester Flyers by a single goal from Emily Willson was followed by a goal-less encounter with Loddon.

However, Spits were soon back on track with a 1-0 win over Hatch Warren through Emma Skinner's strike, before a 4-0 victory against the host side, Oakley, secured through Willson (2), Skinner and Chelsea Cleary.

The final group game was 0-0 with Southampton Saints but enough to see Spits through as group winners.

In the semi-final Loddon were again the opponents, but this time Spits gained the upper hand with Skinner again netting to put them through to the final against Winchester League champions, Winchester Flyers.

In a close fought game Spits went ahead early on when Cleary turned home Skinner's cross but conceded their first goal of the day right at the death.

With no further score in extra-time it came down to the dreaded penalty shoot-out.

Successful kicks from Louise Hoffa, Katie New, Skinner and Jenny Gray saw the tie end 4-1 in Spitfires' favour to make them worthy winners.

The final group game was a 1-0 win over Cold Ash thanks to Emily Willson's effort, leaving Spits in third place.

In the quarter-final Sandhurst Town were comfortably despatched 3-0 with goals from Skinner, Sammie Smith and Georgia Leonard to set up a semi-final with Theale Tigers A.

The game went to penalties, with Spitfires winning 2-1 thanks to Louise Hoffa and Smith.

Their opponents in the final were the tournament's surprise package, Theale Tigers C.

Spitfires proved too strong and goals from Skinner and Willson (2) enabled them to lift their second trophy.
