SHRIVENHAM boss Alan Dyton is facing the threat a summer player exodus with top scorer Alex Green just one of many being chased by Hellenic Premier League rivals, writes ANDY CRYER.
Dyton has signed four new players in preparation for the new campaign but, with at least five of his current crop wanted elsewhere, he knows the next few days could be vital.
Green, top scorer at the Rec for the past two seasons, is at the top of Highworth Town's hit-list while new Carterton manager Steve Hale has also made Green one of four Shrivvy players he is chasing.
Hale is also interested in goalkeeper Luke Alford, striker Steve Avenell and wing-back Andy Brien, while Highworth's John Fisher has also expressed an interest in Shrivenham midfielder Tom Fila.
Dyton is expecting a decision from his players in the next couple of days, hoping they commit to building on last season's seventh place finish in their first season in the Hellenic League top fight.
Hungerford's Steve Dixey, left back, and Chris Flannagen, midfielder, have moved to Shrivenham along with Stuart Bellinger, a midfielder from Highworth, and Scott Lance, a former New College striker, who has spent the last two years on a scholarship in the States.
Dyton said: "I am delighted with the players we have signed. They all know each other and seem impressed with what myself and Pete Horwat had to say.
"I am talking to two other players at the moment and hope to add at least one of them to the squad.
"Steve Hale's move to Hungerford is bad news for us though. He knows my players well but hopefully they will decide to stay with us.
"They have all been away in Falaraki for Luke Alford's stag do and I am sure there were some conversations about it all over there."
Meanwhile there are still spaces for Shrivenham's six-a-side tournament on June 17 at Watchfield. For more information contact D Imrie on 0784 1017245.
- Cirencester Town full back Neil Arndale has moved to rivals Mangotsfield.
