DANNY Wilson insists his Town side cannot be labelled “failures” this season, as he piled the pressure on their promotion rivals ahead of today’s final fixtures.

A win for Swindon at third-placed Millwall could see them clinch a place in the Championship, providing Leeds slip up at home to Bristol Rovers, but as well as the Lions and the Whites, Charlton and Huddersfield are also in the mix for a top-two finish.

And the boss explained he is not using psychological tactics, but instead letting the facts speak for themselves about the pressure those teams find themselves under.

“This is not mind games at all,” said Wilson. “It’s not trying to put more pressure on Leeds, Millwall, Charlton or Huddersfield. It’s a fact.

“The fact is that these teams are expected to go up. Leeds are expected to win the game in front of their own fans comfortably, end of story.

“That’s not me saying it - that’s 40,000 fans who will be there on Saturday making sure they know that.

“And the same goes for Millwall.

“I would have thought their expectation levels at the start of the season were to finish in the top two places.

“In certain eyes not being in the top two is a bit of a failure, but we’ve had a massive bonus of just being in with a chance of getting there.

“If we take it, then brilliant. If we don’t take it then I’m not too concerned, because we’re still bang on course for where we wanted to be which is the play-offs.

“A lot of teams cannot say that and if they don’t achieve automatic and don’t get through the play-offs then it will be a failure. That cannot be levelled at us.”

If things don’t go Town’s way and they are forced to spend another season in League One, Wilson revealed there will be no moaning at his squad of stars from inside the County Ground.

“All we can do is give it our best shot,” he said.

“That’s what we’ve said all season - give it your best shot and see where it takes you.

“And if it doesn’t take us to the promised land so to speak, then there won’t be anybody from here criticising anyone because they have had a great season.”
